  • Scope and Content
This subseries is the largest of all those in the 'International Organizations' section of Central Files. It holds the United Nations Agreement with the International Monetary Fund. A large proportion of records reflect routine information sharing for reference purposes, however some derives from the engagement of representatives of the IMF in UN activities and commissions, and comparative functional and administrative exchanges. Exchanges of documentation cover topics such as: economic and statistical commissions; General Assembly; Secretariat; Economic and Social Council; Security Council; and various conferences, committees and funds for development. Various UN documents and a few ad hoc publications were circulated to IMF staff and retained because they concerned subjects in the economic area, but not directly pertinent to the Fund. These were routinely kept in the Central Files, as was correspondence with these agencies. Correspondence dealt with a wide range of topics of mutual global concern, as well as comparative protocols and common administrative interests.
