المجال والمحتوى
Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the former Central Banking Department (CBD) relating to the coordination of advisory technical assistance missions to member countries to assist with the formulation and/or revision of central and commercial banking laws. The formulation of laws was occasionally conducted in cooperation with other organizations including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) while the revision of laws was performed in close collaboration with the Legal Department.
Records include drafts and copies of banking legislation; minutes of meetings with country representatives; Executive Board documents regarding requests for technical assistance; briefing papers on CBD missions; back-to-office reports; and original and copies of correspondence and memoranda between the Director and Advisors of the Central Baking Service and IMF Resident Representatives and member country officials. This correspondence consists of requests for assistance in the accounting field; analyses of financial sector issues that called for legislative and regulatory amendment; the establishment of central banks; the revision of commercial banking and developments laws; financial sector reform; and feasibility studies on the issuance of treasury bills and other government securities. Topics of interest include deposit insurance, universal or multipurpose banking, and supervision of financial institutions. Files are arranged alphabetically by country and then chronologically.
