Series consists of correspondence and memoranda exchanged between IMF staff and IMF member countries that fall within the purview of the European Department (EUR). The records reflect the functions and work of the area divisions, in particular the planning of missions and visits from member country representatives, analysis of country macro-economic policy and evaluation of possible IMF Institute candidates. The series contains very few files from the Western European Division. Records from the Eastern European, Southern European and Maritime Divisions make up the bulk of the series. Files within the series are arranged alphabetically according to country and chronologically within. File titles are very similar, so distinctions between different files are often made solely on the basis of date range.
