The Country Files Series consists of materials pertaining to over 180 of the IMF's country members. Top-level working papers covering the core functions of the IMF are found in this series, which supplements and sometimes duplicates the contents of departmental files., Country Files Series is arranged in sub-series. Each sub-series is a group of files alphabetically arranged by name of country. Files in all sub-series are arranged according to the 'economics subjects' classification scheme used by the Records Division filing staff. The contents of the files - going according to the top level of the classification - is as follows: country background; currency; depositories; exchange position and systems; membership (including instruments of acceptance into the IMF and legislation); missions, visits and technical assistance; exchange arrangements; quotas; subscriptions; regional economic programs; Use of Fund Resources; and Special Drawing Rights. These categories break down into numerous subjects reflected in the contents of each file and can be navigated using the Central Files classification scheme., Types of material collected for reference in these files include: correspondence, memoranda and cables (incoming and outgoing), memoranda to file, reports. charts, lists of missions, distribution copies of IMF Board Documents, and instruments of acceptance of membership.
