Series consists of Rudolf Rhomberg's chronological files, which begin in 1968, when he was the Assistant Director. He was promoted to Senior Advisor of the Research Department's Immediate Office in 1974, and then Deputy Director of the department in 1980. The files reflect his work in all of these positions., Files consist largely of outgoing correspondence by Rhomberg, with a few items authored by others, including Research Department Director William Hood. There are no chronological files for the years 1970-1972, except there is one document from 1971. Correspondence is largely intended for internal recipients, although there are also letters that were sent to individuals outside the Fund. Topics covered by this correspondence include: personal matters, administrative issues, comments on Fund papers, critiques of non-Fund papers and publications, policy documents, review of Board papers, notes from meetings, and memoranda on subjects such as SDRs, exchange rates, capital movements, inflation, and other topics relating to functions of the Research Department. Within the Research Department, those that Rhomberg frequently corresponded with include Directors Polak and Hood. Files are arranged chronologically, but documents within files are arranged in reverse chronological order.
