Conditions governing access
Series is open according to the Policy on Access to the Fund's Archives. Files will be screened by reference staff for any time restrictions. Where materials are still located in the Secretary's department, they are also not available to researchers without permission from the Secretary's department. Files that are closed have been separated from each subseries. Note that the Personnel subseries is partially closed to external researchers in accordance with the IMF Policy on Access to Archives.

The Administration series consists of documents that pertain to the administrative functions of the Fund. These functions include personnel issues; staff orientation programs; staff appointments and transfers; office services; facilities and building construction and maintenance; dining services; procurement; communications; budgeting; internal and external audits; travel services; public relations, including speeches, conference participation, and publications; citizenship, visa, and tax issues; and computer and data management services. These records were created between 1942 and 2003. Records are in the form of memoranda, internal and external correspondence, handwritten notes, Board papers, other official Fund issuances (Staff Bulletins, Administrative Circulars, General Administrative Orders, press announcements), directories of staff members, cables, agendas, articles, charts, pamphlets and brochures. The series is arranged topically by sub-series. Files are almost always arranged in reverse chronological order., The subseries in the Administration series are: Administrative Controls; Personnel; Office Services; Procurement; Communications; Finance; Staff Welfare and Responsibilities; Travel; Public Relations; Privileges and Immunities; and Information Systems.
