Ámbito de contenido
Country files maintained by A.K. Sengupta as Special Advisor to assist the Managing Director in resolving arrears problems in the framework of the new intensified collaborative approach endorsed by the Interim Committee to assist countries with overdue financial obligations (September 1988). Files are organized alphabetically by country (and subdivided into [General information], Missions, Overdue Financial Obligations, Support Group; Visits within). They contain A.K. Sengupta's memoranda to the Managing Director (briefings, comments, suggestions), memoranda exchanged with Department heads, correspondence with country authorities, Fund-wide draft correspondence, memoranda and Board documents addressed to Sengupta for comments, and background material. Documents are heavily annotated by Sengupta or accompanied by notes, handwritten or typescript, generally drafted by economists P. Shome and E. Milne. They cover the economic situation in countries with overdue obligations, Board decisions regarding countries' eligibility for the use of Fund resources, and solicitation of support from major creditors and donors. They cover in particular the establishment, within the framework of the intensified cooperative approach, of support groups to mobilize funding for programs to solve arrears problems (Cf. First Support Group for Guyana in 1988 including A. K. Sengupta's correspondence with Chairman Marcel Masse and members of Support group, minutes of meetings of the Support Group for Guyana and its Steering Committee, and reports)
