The Bretton Woods File (BWF) is a selective compilation of materials relating to the history, policies, and operation of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group. Materials in the file include newspaper articles and editorials; articles published in professional journals and selected news magazines; speeches and publications by IMF and World Bank staff; and pertinent internal documents and publications related to the operation of the two organizations. The file covers 70 years of materials that pre-date the founding of these institutions (the earliest is 1932). Since 1982, materials in the File have been indexed in the JOLIS catalog and may be retrieved by author, title, subject, date, or publication title. Records in the JOLIS catalog are identified by the location symbol "BWF." A digital archive of materials from 1932 through June 1963 is under development. Library staff are available to answer questions and help resolve problems using this service.
