- Etendue et contenuSeries consist of the records accumulated by the Exchange Systems Surveillance Division during the period 1961-1984 with the bulk being accumulated between 1975-1979. During this period, the Division was known respectively as the Exchange Rate Practices and Consultation Practices Divisions. The records reflect the work of the Division as the arm of the Exchange and Trade Relations Department charged with reviewing and developing IMF policies on surveillance. Included are: drafts regarding the development of criteria for the activation of notification procedures; minutes of meetings regarding the annual review of regular consultation and other issues related to Article VI which were circulated to heads of area departments and the Research Department; draft papers prepared by the Division in conjunction with the Legal Department for the Managing Director's introductory statement on the Annual Review of Regular Consultations; transmittal letters regarding Article XIV Consultation Procedures which were prepared jointly by the Exchange Rate Practices and Exchange Restrictions Divisions and sent to area departments for verification of data; and, case studies on the Formulation of Exchange Rate policies Fund-supported programs. Records also include a discussion regarding the Initial Basis for an Experimental System of Information Notices. This process involved the submission of an experimental system of exchange rate information notices to the Board for member countries whose real effective exchange rates changed by more than 10 percent since the previous consultation. Records in this regard consist of detailed commentary by area departments on a paper prepared by the Division Chief of the Consultation Practices Division. Files within the series are arranged alphabetically and reverse chronologically within.
