Contains records made and received by BURAI. Prior to the establishment of BURAI in 1963, the statistical functions of the IMF were overseen by the Research Department (RES). The first Director of the Bureau of Statistics was Earl Hicks who had, within RES, been responsible for overseeing statistical activities and functions. Consequently, it appears that Earl Hicks brought some records with him from the RES, thus dates for material within the sous-fonds appear as early as 1946. The records were generated by BURAI as it carried out its responsibilities to oversee the compilation and dissemination of statistical data from member states, such as through the Data Fund and in the IFS publication. Records are arranged in the following nine series: BURAI Assistant Director Fred Lynn Chronological Files Series, BURAI International Financial Statistics Cable Files, BURAI International Financial Statistics Subject Files, BURAI Subject Files, BURAI Technical Assistance Correspondence, BURAI Technical Assistance Reports, BURAI Technical Assistance Subject Files, BURAI Director John B. McLenaghan Chronological Files, and BURAI Director Werner Dannemann Chronological Files.
