- [nb-NO]Scope and Content[nb-NO]Series primarily contains incoming and outgoing letters and memoranda sent or received by Vito Tanzi while he was Director of Fiscal Affairs Department beginning in 1981. Minimal correspondence (1974-1981) covers his tenure as Assistant Director and Chief, Tax Policy Division. The correspondence is arranged in reverse chronological order and covers a wide range of topics relating to Fiscal Affairs Department operations and Dr. Tanzi's professional activities. Occasionally filed with the correspondence are academic papers authored by Dr. Tanzi and others, and external documents. Records cover: reports on technical assistance and official visits to countries; arrangements for missions; lectures, conferences and symposiums attended and/or given by Dr. Tanzi; comments and reviews of internal papers and policies; Dr. Tanzi's publications; collaboration with other departments and World Bank; memoranda reporting research on specific countries by FAD staff; and acknowledgement letters. Series consists of additional correspondence files which are maintained separately in original reverse chronological order. These files relate to Dr. Tanzi's professional activities including refereeing for journals, publication of his book "The Underground Economy in the United States and Abroad" and other publications; and other professional appointments outside of the IMF.
