- [nb-NO]Scope and Content[nb-NO]Series contains files maintained by Middle Eastern Department Deputy Directors A.S. Ray (1969-1983) and A.K. El Selehdar (1973-1985). Documents consist of correspondence, office memoranda, memoranda to files, notes, briefing papers and IMF documents arranged alphabetically by subject., A large part of the material was kept for reference and duplicate records were also maintained in the Immediate Office Subject Files. However, the files reflect the particular functions and activities of the Deputy Directors (conduct of business during absence of Director / Acting Director, policy review, budget, staff assignments, missions, coordination of the work of the divisions, Annual Meeting arrangements) and some files include original documents of particular interest: comments prepared in the divisions on new policies, rules and procedures (Consultation); topics of discussion, briefs and country briefings prepared by Deputy Director, Division Heads or other staff in the Department for the Managing Director or Department's meetings with country delegations or for quarterly reports (Annual Meeting, Country Reference Notes, OPEC); drafts and working sheets prepared for the budget; mission schedules; internal memoranda regarding staff assignments (MED General). The file concerning the IMF Advisor to the Gulf States (Resident Fund Advisor) documents the establishment in 1975 of a Resident Representative in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi).
