The Financial Studies (FS) Division's main function was to conduct basic research on domestic and international issues in the field of monetary policy taking into account the role of money and monetary policy in the less developed countries. The Division performed current analyses and provided background information in support of the work of the Research Department. Memoranda and short papers were often compiled on current international policy issues and financial developments. The Division also provided outside services especially with the Area Departments on their analyses of financial problems., The materials are organized in series for Division Chiefs and Advisors. Series include: Division Chief Malcolm Knight Chronological Files; Files of Franco Spinelli are incorporated into the Financial Studies Division files. Subject Files for Chief Donald Mathieson also form part of the RESFS records.
