- [nb-NO]Scope and Content[nb-NO]Sous-fonds consists of records created by the area divisions of the Middle Eastern Department (MED) and its successor the Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD). The organization of the divisions changed over time with country desks being transferred to different divisions in order to balance work demands or in order to provide more focused regional surveillance. The records generated by the divisions remained more or less consistent despite these organizational changes. The sous-fonds is arranged into the division's standard Country Desk Files, Chronological Files, Subject Files and Administrative Files or occasional Heads of division sets of files. The majority of the records are the Country Desk Files which show the desk economists’ work in the maintenance of an up-to-date database on economic, financial and political developments in member countries.
