Created by the desk economist when monitoring and assessing development in desk country, material consists of: final and draft reports by IMF staff, member authorities, and other international organizations; reference material such as newspaper clippings, legislation, and journal articles; data tables; IMF internal memoranda; correspondence between IMF staff, member authorities, technical assistants, resident representatives, the World Bank, and other organizations; and, notes from or about missions and other activities. Files are arranged chronologically or accordng to standard filing plans. There are also sets of chronological files and mission files. Topics of note include: Islamic banking; oil and energy production; borrowing agreements; external debt; foreign reserves; membership and quotas; technical assistance; the impact of the 1990 Gulf crisis on the economies of the area's countries. Series was processed in consecutive tranches. Tranche 1 (1950-1988) is organized alphabetically by country in one single series. Tranche 2 (1989-1992) has been subdivided into subseries organized alphabetically by country.
