Bereik en inhoud
Subseries documents the activities of the Office of the Managing Director. Files on Managing Directors include records which concern: the preparation for them to take office, including biographical information and the announcements to other international organizations; their absence from office; their speeches, articles and interviews, while in office, and some records from their activities after they left the IMF, up to their death. To a lesser extent, subseries also shows similar activities by the Deputy Managing Directors. In addition, some information can be found about the work of the Advisers and Special Adviser to the Managing Director. Others topics of interests in the subseries include: the role of the Managing Director and the IMF as arbitrator in international monetary conflicts, for instance the issue of the 4% Japanese loan with France; the activities of the Internal Auditor of the IMF; meetings of the Heads of Departments and the Staff Committee; policy making; Staff Retirement Plan; and technological issues encountered by the Office of the Managing Director and the IMF. Records consist of correspondence, memoranda, press releases, press clippings and reports. Subseries is complemented mainly by the Office of the Managing Director Records.
