Series consists of the subject files of Manuel Guitián in his positions as Senior Advisor and Deputy Director of the Exchange and Trade Relations Department. Between 1984 and 1987 Guitián assumed functions previously performed by Donald Palmer, as the IMF representative liaison on Development Committee matters. In this capacity, Guitián reviewed and commented on Development Committee summary reports. He also drafted replies for the Managing Director regarding the regulation of procedures to be followed by the World Bank and the IMF with regards to the Development Committee. The Development Committee met to discuss, among other things, an approach to debt resolution and the structural and development aspects of the problems of developing countries in their effort to achieve economic growth. Other issues covered in the series include the collaborative efforts of the IMF and the World Bank in technical assistance missions, stand-by arrangements in member countries, and exchange rate fluctuations schemes and policies. File are arranged chronologically by subject and documents within each file are organized in reverse chronological order.
