The OMD Fonds comprises the records of the Managing Directors, the Deputy Directors and the Personal Advisors to the Managing Director. Papers have been arranged into as many sous-fonds as they are Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Director and Personal Advisors.
Fonds was processed in successive tranches. Tranche 1 includes: the papers of 1) Ivar Rooth; 2) Per Jacobsson; 3) Pierre-Paul Schweitzer; 4) H. Johannes Witteveen; 5) Jacques de Larosière; and, 6) Michel Camdessus (1987-1989). Additionally, tranche 1 includes the records of the four Deputy Managing Directors: H. Merle Cochran; Frank A. Southard Jr.; William B. Dale; and, Richard D. Erb. Records consist of correspondence; files related to speeches and meetings; information regarding travel and social events; and subject files related to organizations and events in which the Managing Director and/or Deputy Managing Director was involved. The records of the IMF's first Managing Director, Camille Gutt have been integrated into the IMF's Central Files Collection. There are no records for the first Deputy Managing Director Andrew N. Overby.
A second tranche includes Michel Camdessus (1987-2000) and Special Advisors Arjun K. Sengupta (1988-1990), P.R. Narvekar (1990-1993) and Special Advisor Alan Whittome Papers (1990). Michel Camdessus Papers run from 1987 to 1995 only with the exception of his Chronological files (1987-1990, 1992-2000) and Speeches (1987-2000). Mostly briefings from Deputy Managers and Heads of Department, speeches, annotated memoranda from Heads of Department and drafts of Board documents; letters exchanged with heads of states, government officials and Executive Directors, some personal, and some handwritten notes.
Fonds also contains the records the Office of Budget and Planning, the Office of Internal Audit and Inspection, and the Investment Office. The records of each of these units constitute a sous fonds.
