Series consists of general correspondence sent to Managing Director Pierre-Paul Schweitzer, both from those interested in IMF issues and from the general public, or those not necessarily connected to IMF business. This group of files mostly contains the original incoming correspondence with a reply from either the Managing Director, his personal assistants or the Department heads., Series includes copies of speeches and articles sent to the Managing Director, and covering letters for copies of the Managing Director's speeches sent to those requesting copies. Much of the correspondence includes requests for positions at the IMF, as well as incoming correspondence, requests for autographs, and invitations to events, conferences and meetings. There is correspondence from the Harry S. Truman Library Institute for National and International Affairs, the Inter-American Council for Commerce and Production, the Basle Centre for Economic and Financial Research, Markus & Stone (New York Stock Exchange), Fortune Magazine, ambassadors, banks and universities. Topics include Stand-Bys, gold and liquidity. Also included is a letter from Ivar Rooth with some discussion of Bretton Woods and IMF policies., This material is arranged in alphabetical order.
