- Scope and ContentSeries consists of photographs authored by IMF photographers of art openings and receptions hosted by the Art Society of the International Monetary Fund, from 1970 through 1991, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2003. Held several times a year and featuring works by both international and local artists, openings were generally attended by members of the Executive Board, IMF staff, and their guests. Photographs of the art openings typically include photographs of the artist's work, attendees socializing and viewing art, and speeches delivered by an Art Society representative, staff members, or the artist. Several art openings were held in collaboration with the Washington Committee of CARE (mid-1970s) and UNICEF (December 12, 1984). There are also photographs of Art Society Committee members and Art Society Annual Prize Drawings. Some of the openings were specifically marked by IMF photographers as being taken for the IMF publication, Staff News., Photographs (negatives, prints, and contact sheets) have been kept in their original order and are arranged chronologically by date followed by the title of the event. Some of the events include either the first name or initials of the IMF photographer who documented the event. Negatives are stored separately from prints and contact sheets, and textual records (including event programs, memos, and notes from departments and individuals instructing IMF photographers which frames to use) are housed in the files with contact sheets. Besides respective dates and titles, the negatives for each event can be cross referenced with their corresponding prints and contact sheets as noted at the bottom of each archival enclosure.
