Scope and Content
The Chronological Files Series reflect Jaques.J. Polak's work over a lifetime. His work in 1957 on the Polak Model is seminal and the files of this period record his work about the sources of countries' international financial imbalances. His model also indicated policy measures that the IMF used extensively to recommend to countries for purposes of correcting their imbalances. To some extent this aspect of his work is reflected in some Research Department materials Polak preserved in these files. The files titles are arranged chronologically by the early date. Some files are 'type' based, like "Correspondence", while otherst contain items on a common topic, or reflect Polak's engagement in, and the proceedings of, events, or hold Polak's annotated reference material.
